The Gitel Foundation
In Memory of Gitel Rubin
Mission Statement
The Gitel Foundation was created by her loving family to maintain the legacy of Gail Rose Rubin.
Gail Rubin, more popularly known around the Los Angeles community as “Gitel,” was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer in July 2009. Over the next 15 years as she stoically battled her illness, she maintained and redoubled her efforts to better her community. Gitel privately and publicly engineered initiatives, built institutions, and promoted ideas for the furtherment of children both in Los Angeles and abroad.
The Gitel Foundation works to establish and retain her legacy and memory through initiatives that were valued by Gitel Rubin and are cherished by her family.
